The average US power transformer is over 70 years old. The US loses power more than any other developed nation. You don't need a catastrophe. A bad storm for a week is enough to wish you'd done something sooner.

No. The book is structured for complete beginners as well as more experienced readers.

It breaks complex systems like water collection, food production, and off-grid power into simple, actionable steps that anyone can follow.

This is for any regular guy who wants to know he can handle things if something goes wrong.

If you've ever thought "what would we actually do if the power went out for more than a few days" this book was written for you.

Try the projects. If you don't build anything worth keeping, send it back within 60 days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Inside Off Grid: Home Security

This is Chapter 12, Home Security. You can see the layered defense plan, the motion lights and cameras project, and the shelf build sheet with its full cut list. Every one of the 101 projects shows a difficulty rating, a build time, and a real cost before you start. No fluff, no filler, just plain instructions you can follow with basic tools.

  • Off Grid: 101 DIY Survival Projects held up in a car

My wife thinks I'm a genius now

Built the rainwater filter and the food storage shelves so far. Everything works just like the book says. Feels good knowing if the power goes out for a week we'll be just fine. Money well spent.

  • Off Grid: 101 DIY Survival Projects held outdoors on a homestead

Worth it for one project alone

Bought it half expecting fluff. It's the opposite. Real tools, real costs, real instructions. The EMP shield project alone gave me peace of mind I can't put a price on. Already ordered a second copy for my son.

  • Off Grid: 101 DIY Survival Projects held in one hand against a wall

Finally a guide that doesn't talk down to you

I'm no electrician but I built the solar setup over a weekend and it actually powers my shed. The steps are dead simple and the photos show you exactly what it should look like. Wish I'd found this years ago.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Higher than most people think. In February 2021, about 4.5 million homes in Texas lost power during a winter storm, and the state's grid came within minutes of a full collapse.

Most power transformers in the US are decades old, and outages here are more common than in almost any other developed country. It doesn't take a total disaster. One rough week without power is enough to make you wish you'd prepared.

Here's what you'll be able to do:

      • Set up your own water supply.
      • Build off-grid power systems.
      • Grow and store your own food.
      • Put together the essentials to get through a blackout or crisis.

Plus 75 more projects. The goal is simple: rely less on the system, and more on yourself.

No experience needed. The book is built for complete beginners. Even bigger projects like solar power or water collection are broken into simple, easy-to-follow steps.

Regular people. Anyone with a home and a family who wants to know they can handle things if something goes wrong.
There's nothing extreme in this book, no bunkers, no conspiracy theories, no ten-year food stockpiles.
It's practical DIY projects for water, power, food, heat, and security. The kind of thing most people can build in a weekend with tools they probably already own.

      Inside you'll find projects covering:

      • Collecting and purifying rainwater.
      • Solar and off-grid power systems.
      • Growing and preserving food.
      • Natural remedies and self-reliance skills.

Every project is built to be practical, affordable, and easy to scale up.

No. Most projects only need cheap, easy-to-find materials. The book also tells you exactly where to source them affordably, so you can get started without a big upfront cost.

You don't need to complete all 75 projects. Building just one this weekend already puts you ahead of most people. The EMP shield on page 1 takes about 30 minutes and roughly $47 in parts. The rainwater collection system on page 13 takes about 45 minutes. None of these will eat your whole weekend. They're short, focused, and done fast.

Most survival books stick to theory or worst-case scenarios. This one sticks to practical, everyday systems you can build right now and actually use to become more self-reliant.

You have 60 days to try it out. Build a few projects, and if none of them feel worth keeping, just send us an email and we refund you in full.

      Great Survival Book

I bought this book after seeing it recommended in a few online groups, and I wanted something that could help me feel more prepared for unexpected situations. After looking through the pages, I found that it covers a wide range of useful survival projects. The explanations are clear and easy to understand, and the instructions are broken down in a way that makes each skill approachable, even for beginners. The content is practical and well organized, and the book offers a good mix of information without feeling overwhelming. While some sections are more basic than I expected, the variety of topics makes it a valuable resource to keep on hand. Overall, it is a helpful and interesting book that offers solid guidance for anyone who wants to feel more prepared.

Keep in mind that these projects are not as cheap as they say

The book is kind of fun but for DIY stuff and building on your own this is mainly an advertisement for maybe a home Depot or Lowe's and a lot of the stuff you can't even find that's in the book

      Yep, helpful.

This book gets a four star because although there are plenty of photos and explanations, it is not meant for the very inexperienced in diy. There could be a few more photos and details in steps of projects. The quality and color of photos are very dark and grainy. I am left to ask others advice and diy help, which isn't ideal when trying to be careful and quiet about preparing. I will say this is a great book to have in my library, and will be used in future projects, and will recommend the purchase.
